Husum Castle, surrounded by a moat, is located in the middle of the city of Husum, in the middle of a park that attracts many visitors, especially in spring. So does Beshine. Especially when the crocus bloom begins, the castle park turns into a purple natural spectacle. The traditional crocus blossom festival is also celebrated here in honor of the largest crocus population in Northern Europe. Husum Castle was originally a free-standing building, which later underwent numerous additions and alterations. Today it consists of a u-shaped ensemble of buildings and the entrance is still open to the west. Husum Castle is the only castle on the North Sea coast in Schleswig-Holstein.
